ONDO

Hello, this is Tetsuo.

Our exhibition was finished 27th April.
We finished it relating with next one in this time.

I exhibited two works for this project.
「A lighting and a bookend」

The name of the product is ONDO.
The product is designed warmth of a living nest with bamboo charcoals which are born from nature.Bamboo charcoals brings infrared rays effect which is mild for our body when the product is turned on,and the material adjust humidity and deodorize a room by being used as a ceiling light with bamboo charcoals which have high effect of charcoal.

The gray charcoals heated has silver gloss which is like metal on the surface.
When i thought the concept of the product, I had an image that those materials between a lighting and a character of the material, light match in my mind.
Shadow effect come out on a wall give us relaxing space as if we are covered by a nest.

This product is near to art works rather than works which can be made by mass production.
In this time, I've got a lot of things through making ONDO and the exhibition.

I really appriciate many people who supported the exhibition and team members too.

Our logo completed!

Hi, this is Tomo.

It has been past just a week since i wrote on this blog last time.
the time is really flying.
I feel like before we know it, it would be the day of milano salone.
and, i think about sumi in my mind more and more......
but, i'm not tired of sumi. I think it's fascination of sumi.

now, as i told you our logo last week, we did fine adjustment for layout and size.
This work was tough work more than i thought.....

but, finally, our logo was completed.

Today is a first week after it's turned summar time.
I wonder if many people mistake their time when they go to school or work ?

We don't lose rain

Hi, this is Takamochi.

As yesterday was rainy, so today is also rainy in milan.

A small talk like if you like rain or not was one of the subject during break time in GIIT meeting last time.
One of a member hate rain and said that i don't like rain, it dosen't make me motivated.
Exactly, it seemed that everybody didn't have energy in the meeting last Saturday.

I like rainy day which i have nothing to do, so, i can read books or do something.
but now, milano salone is coming, so i don't like rain.

because, i have to bring my works and materials in a big bag and then i have to take a bus and the metro. it has humid smell inside a packed bus and metro.....um...

inside car with high humidity, inside car with peculiar smell......um...

I wish i could have SUMI in that time.....

because, SUMI has great effect like a deodorant or controling humidity.
I think it's related with character of SUMI.
We can't see the wideness of surface area from outside. It's just invisible.

In Japan, there are lot of products which are focused on sumi effect, but in Italy, there is almost no product like that.

so, we think that the proposal from GIIT both interior and product focused on SUMI is going to be interesting.
I'm sure that my products are made the most of SUMI effect.

I'd like to make effort.

Rain... and SUMI

Hi, this is Tetsuo.

It's rainy today,we haven't had rain long while since we had rain last time.

It had been nice weather for two weeks but, it turned cold a little again.

Not only the other members but also me, our team members are basically influenced by weather, so, in order to increase our motivation and efficiency, i hope nice weather would come back from the begining of next week.

In this week, i have spent a lot of time on making a direct mail, so before i know it, one week passed soon with strain. but our team are lacking of experience, so we have to work harder otherwise we can't make good result.

I feel that i'm improving a lot in many aspects everyday as we work on the exhibition.
It's going to be April soon, i think i want to make perfect products enjoying our work.

Do you know what this is ?

We started this blog from last week,
before we know it, one week passed.
Hi, this is Tuyoshi who take charge of friday's blog.

We finished our self-introduction at sachiko, so we'd like tell the detail of project and the state of the progress from today.

At present, i think over a space design of a exhibition place for milano salone everyday. How invisible sumi effect is going to be expressed and How its existence is going to be expressed simply from interesting view point.

This is one of the idea which is being shaped in my mind.

I still don't know what kind of space designs are going to be appeared, but, we want to prepare devices which make fan of everybody.

Hello,this is Tetsuo.

GIIT member 7

It's nice weather today in milan also.

Cold winter and cloudy sky, rain that we have had almost everyday stoped,

i feel that spring is just coming nowadays.

and, talking about spring, it's season of milano salone.

cherry blossoms blooming in a park

I found sprouts on trees on a street today.

There are so many things which i haven't been aware on a street where i always pass by, as long as i pay attention.

I think it's 「INVISIBLE」

so, last self-introduction of GIIT is me, i'm sachiko who work in GIIT as a interior designer.

In interior team, our work is started from finding a room where we exhibit our work,
now we discuss about the space design.

We have the theme SUMI and concept INVISIBLE and there will be product design team works.

We think we want everybody who come to see our exhibition to feel SUMI which is a little known its effect in Italy as one of life goods. so, we think we want to make a room so that everybody are interested in our works.

It's a month left before milano salone, please look forward to it.

Hi, as industrial designer Tomoko mentioned before, I'm Tomoko who work in interior design.
I feel like it's destiny that three Tomo joined for GIIT.

I'd like to make effort keeping in my mind this precious destiny.

At present, i'm taking charge of this blog.
Actually, the person who set up this blog is me.
But, i'm not so familiar with PC, so, i'm struggling to it.

In this time, i design a booth with the other interior design team to decorate for products which the product design team make.
But, i still lack of experience, so i work on it being thaught by my superior.

The image is going to be like.....

It's like this.

But, i still don't know what it'll be like, as it's still on the way.

Hello I'm Tomoko who work in GIIT as a product designer.
Tomo who wrote on this blog before is not me. and a parson who write on this blog tomorrow is also Tomoko. of course it's another person.

Have you realized?
In all of our GIIT members, three people are Tomo. It's unbelievable beyond trouble.

I have to talk about milano salone

What do you think of this? This is not supposed to be like this as the exhibition is coming.....
I'm sure that i can put some more interesting pictures on the blog next time.

Those are not sumi. but those are going to be changed the shapes, then they are going to be exhibited in milano salone. With those materials, it can be expressed invisible thing.
please look forward to it.

Sumi effect and its color

Seen through a electron microscope, you can see infinite small holes on the surface of a sumi.

With the small rough holes such as a beehive, the surface area is wide though it's seemed that apparenty it's small. so, water or air can go through inside the material easily, then when they get inside, it absorb many things with the wide surface area. For instance, it absorb humidity if humidity is high when air go through inside. On the contrary, it emits moisture to air and works as a humidifier when it's dry.

Sumi effect which is very mild to nature and humans is invisible, but when you try to feel sumi effect one by one, you might notice that there are full of sumi effect in nature.

Hello, My name is Tomo.
At present, I'm studying interior design in milan.
I still don't know everything about sumi effect,
but i feel like sumi effect is excellent.
I feel that the more i know about sumi effect, the more i'm attracted.
I think that life sorrounded by sumi is fascinative.

I have taken charge of GIIT's logo so far and the logo is finally decided.
In my opinion, I like the logo with simple design.

It took me a lot of time to decide the logo. but finally thanks to GIIT members support, it's completed. I appreciate GIIT member.

Hello, I'm Takamochi. I'm taking charge of product design in GIIT.

As Tetsuo mentioned yesterday, It has been sunny days in milan these days, so i feel like i want to go to a park to take a nap.

But now, we have a month before milano salone.

All of our members have a strong will that we'd like to exhibit our works in milano salone, then we organized GIIT for that aim. So this is first time for us to experience not on watching side, but on making side.
At the begining, we were just like groping our way about it.

but in the cource of discussion, we finally reached our theme (charcoal) and concept (invisible), and after that, i found out a lot of my possibilities and goodness of someone which i've never ever realized before with the notion of invisible.

In this time, I'll exhibit three prducts, lighting and a vase and.......
I feel like i'm excited.

We are sure that we are working on milano salone as much as possible.

Our team "GIIT" is composed of 3 product designers and 3 interior designers, and from this year 2009 we are going to strive to propose new values through different fields of designs as those who are seeing both cultures of Japan (Giappone) and Italy (Italia).

The theme of our first project is "SUMI".

How and what design can we creat with using this difficult but interesting material...
Please look forward to our design activities from now on !!

PROJECT CONCEPT

INVISIBLE

It is not possible to capture the exquisite application or fine points of charcoal with our sense of sight. Also, from our daily life there are various different "INVISIBLE" elements that exist on the subconscious level, things and valuess that we fail to notice that the naked eyes cannot see.
And so, we shall present a design using charcoal to display these various different "INVISIBLE" elements, a new-wave of concepts.

CHARCOAL

Currently in Japan, charcoal (SUMI in Japanese) is not only used as fuel but also used as deodorizers and air-freshners for refrigerators. Known to have humidifying effects, the use of charcoal is studied in various fields of industry.

However, here in Italy, these advantages of charcoal are not widespread.

We are here to present the many possibilities of charcoal through our works.
